Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands

Growing sustainable energy in the Pacific Islands

The Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI) was formed in 2010 with the mission to create an enabling environment for the growth of sustainable energy business entities and sustainable energy equipment and/or energy services in the Pacific Islands.

Its members comprise of: sustainable energy businesses and utilities located in the Pacific Islands; companies outside the Pacific Islands who provide products and services into the Pacific Island countries and territories; training Institutes and Universities; government departments along with multi-lateral and bi-later donors.

It was initially established through funding support provided by the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEP) and SEIAPI is currently managed by an executive committee comprising individuals from 6 countries. SEIAPI has a very close working relationship with the Pacific Power Association (PPA).

SEIAPI is now a registered Industry Association in Fiji.

SEIAPI has been on the forefront in making the Sustainable Energy Industry Development Project (SEIDP) funded by the World Bank to be accessible to the Pacific Island Countries that are SEIAPI and PPA members. As part of SEIDP, from 2018-2020, industry guidelines on Renewable Energy/ Energy Efficiency have been developed and 34 4-day guideline workshops have taken place in 12 countries benefitting over 600 Technicians/Engineers to build capacity on Renewable Energy technologies, especially Solar PV. Also, 19 unit standards have been accredited as micro-qualifications on the Pacific Qualifications Framework through EQAP. Please visit the Guidelines or Workshop pages for updates.
